This industrial equipment company from Murcia will have an important role in supplying equipment for the manufacture of composite structural components for the Airbus A-350 XWB.
M. Torres has announced that it has been selected by Airbus to be its sole provider of automatic carbon fiber tape layer systems (TORRESLAYUP) for Airbus’ different plants, thus satisfying the production needs of the A-350 XWB.
The multiyear contract covers all the automatic tape layer needs of Airbus and its partners until 2012, with the possibility of extension until 2014. The agreement includes different sizes and configurations for machines for the manufacture of wings, stabilizer skins, spars, stringers, as well as fuselage wings and other carbon fiber components.
Airbus has found the automatic tape layer technology of MTorres to be the most efficient and productive solution for tape layering the large quantity of carbon fiber necessary for the manufacture of components on the scale of those designed for the A-350-XWB.
Both the automatic tape laying system TORRESLAYUP, as well as the fiber placement system TORRESFIBERLAYUP, have been widely proven, and are recognized within the industry as the most productive laminating systems available in the market. This has been reflected in recent articles published in specialized production system magazines for the aeronautics industry.
This new agreement reached with Airbus further consolidates the position of M. Torres as one of the world’s leaders in providing solutions for the manufacture of carbon fiber components for the aeronautics industry. The company’s products have been successfully used in the aeronautics industry for years, and in the vast majority of aeronautic programs.
