The new technology enables simultaneous transmission by more than one means, improving communications during trips.
The company Arteixo Telecom from Galicia and five other Spanish industrial groups have embarked on a project that is unique in the world. It uses a technology called AnyWire, which enables simultaneous transmission over more than one media (coaxial, telephonic, electric…), offering the possibility of a double channel which thereby guarantees the trustworthiness of communications.
Thanks to the advantages of this new technology (connectivity, performance, accessibility and level of integration), its use in transportation is very attractive, across all forms: automobiles, transportation of passengers and goods on the highway, railways, naval and aeronautical.
Further, it’s suitable for the healthcare sector, where communications and quality of transmission are of vital importance. As such, the goal of those responsible for this initiative is “to develop pioneering products and applications for each of the market niches”.
This is the first R&D project aimed at developing AnyWire applications for the transport sector and healthcare services, as this technology was conceived originally for in-home uses. In fact, the developments of this system to date had only been to this end.
In addition to Arteixo Telecom, another five companies round out the consortium in the AnyWire project: Cablerías Auto from Galicia brings its experience in wiring for automobiles; Castrosúa, also from Galicia, stands out for its research into the ‘Tempus’ hybrid technology used in buses; Gigle Networks from Cataluña provides its experience in connectivity solutions; Andalusia’s Isotrol is expert in the aeronautics sector, and Level Telecom from Galicia brings the consortium in contact with the healthcare sector for chronic care and care for the aged. Further, the Galician Automotive Technology Center (CTAG) will join forces with these six companies.
