The Spanish company applies wireless technology to streets, in order to use them as a support: to offer tickets to shows, carry out environmental testing or for roadway safety.
Wifi, Bluetooth, Zigbee and RFID technologies, already a part of daily life, will become part of the pavement in cities. This is thanks to the solution from the company Vía Inteligente, which will make it possible for this technological pavement to serve as a digital platform at the service of citizens.
The system, called EPI–Pavimento Inteligente, will offer different services such as an internet connection, management of emergencies, or finding people and information about events in the city where it is installed. In the same manner, this pioneering technology will inform passers-by about a place’s temperature, its humidity, level of contamination, architectonic barriers, pedestrian routes and even provide video surveillance of streets.
The solution of Vía Inteligente utilizes a specific type of technological pavement that, in addition, enables buying tickets, carrying out environmental testing, offering services to the aged, supporting disadvantaged groups and even facilitating traffic monitoring.
Vía Inteligente intends to transform city streets into digital communication platforms, so that governments and public organizations can use them as a support for services.
The system is installed in a base of natural stone composed of calcium carbonate. It also has intelligent tactile paving, which gives people with difficulties an alternative source of assistance and integration.
