Spanish company Indra has been one of the biggest contributors to helping improve management of the Sub-Saharan energy sector during recent years thanks to its integrated solutions.
Indra has announced a collaboration agreement with state-owned electric utility EDM, or Electricidade de Moçambique, in order to implement its support systems for technical and commercial business processes related to energy distribution in Mozambique. The project includes the adoption of Indra’s commercial management system InCMS (commercial management, management control and energy balances) as well as InGRID (a troubleshooting management system for distribution networks), both of which were developed by Indra.
For almost two decades Indra has been reinforcing its presence on the African continent, opening offices in Kenya, Botswana, South Africa, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Uganda, Morocco, Egypt, Zambia, Zimbabwe and, most recently, in Mozambique and Ghana.
Indra’s projects help to reduce technical, commercial and operating costs thanks to improved control over energy balances and effective response to problems that arise in the network, which also helps to reduce costs for consumers. The company forecasts an average reduction of 20% for technical losses and a 25% cut in commercial losses, in many cases letting companies recover their capital investment in record times of only two to three years.
