Acciona claims the number one spot in the utilities sector on “The A list” of the CDP Climate Performance Leadership Index 2014. This list includes the 187 companies around the world that are most actively helping to combat climate change.
Acciona, which was included in the utility sector for ‘The A List’ CDP Climate Performance Leadership Index 2014, was specifically cited by the international organization CDP as the best in the sector, thanks to its efforts to reduce the carbon produced by the world’s economies and its own reduction in CO2 emissions by 63% since 2007.
This recognition represents Acciona’s fourth consecutive year on the ‘A List’, which is the highest possible ranking. In 2013 the company received a special award from CDP for being one of Spain’s four top-rated companies based on their work to fight climate change.
CDP’s index includes 187 companies from around the globe, all of which have received this distinction due to their environmental awareness.
CDP first began to compile this ranking due to the urging of 767 of the world’s largest institutional investors, representing more than one third of the world’s invested capital. These investors seek to have an evaluation tool in order to study the efforts being made by the companies in which they invest to fight climate change.
In order to compile this ranking, CDP evaluates over 2,000 companies from around the world and finally only includes 187 of them as being the leaders in environmental awareness.
