This Spanish company has been selected as the startup with the best technology solution for achieving a smart planet. It received this recognition at the SmartCamp competition sponsored by IBM Global Entrepreneur.
The company’s star creation, called Momit Smart Thermostat, is a device with Wi-Fi technology that uses sensors and mathematical algorithms to detect if there is anyone in a home or office, and if these inhabitants are active or resting. It uses this information in order to reduce unnecessary spending on heating and air conditioning.
The system can help save up to 30% on electricity bills, thereby cutting energy consumption and the environmental costs of electricity generation.
This innovative project has given Green Momit exposure in ten countries, and allowed it to sign contracts with companies such as Bricor, Leroy Merlin and Ferroli in Spain, France and Portugal.
After receiving this IBM Global Entrepreneur SmartCamp award in Spain, the company will now compete on a European level in London on November 26th. The winner of that contest will then travel to the United States where the worldwide winners will be decided in December.
The Momit team, which is composed of 27 employees, has already been recognized and won numerous awards for its inventions and activities at events such as LEWEB París, Emprendedores La Caixa, UNIR and the Telefónica/Wayra contest, where the company was the outright winner thanks to this project.
