The project developed by this technology center will incorporate smart networks for buildings and transport, and efficient water management.

Tecnalia Research & Innovation R&S has won a contract from the United Nations for the energy redesign of the Croatian city Sisak, in order to convert the latter into a Smart Energy City. The transformation process of this metropolis will last 15 years and have as a priority the systematic improvement of its energy infrastructure. The Basque technology company aims for this design to be an example for the entire country, which is in the process of joining the European Union.

The initiative will not only focus on energy, such as the use of smart networks and energy efficiency for buildings, but will also have social aspects. That is to say, it will seek to improve the quality of life for the inhabitants of the city, modernizing transportation and efficiently managing water. To achieve these latter two goals, Tecnalia will benefit from the collaboration of the Basque Country University and Croatian engineering firms specializing in transportation.

Tecnalia thus reinforces its international profile, as the company also has four technology nodes in Germany, France, Italy and Serbia, six innovation centers located in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Columbia and Egypt, and a network of sales alliances in 23 countries, as well as in Spain.
