Acciona is the world’s first construction company to obtain an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which certifies the environmental footprint of infrastructure during its entire life cycle.
Spanish construction company Acciona has become the first company in the world to obtain this certification for two projects: a railway viaduct located on the high speed rail line connecting Madrid and Galicia, and the N-340 highway in Elche (Alicante, Spain).
The Environmental Product Declaration is an internationally-recognized environmental certification, which provides quantitative, transparent, verified and comparable data about the environmental impact that a product may cause during its entire life cycle.
Obtaining these first EPDs proves that Acciona has a tested methodology that can be applied to any infrastructure project. The Spanish group expects to progressively extend their use to the rest of the company’s infrastructure assets.
