Aerospace engineering firm Aertec Solutions is adapting videogame technology and its virtual reality applications to factory management processes in aircraft manufacture.

The Spanish company Aertec Solutions has unveiled the project ‘Digitizing Expressions for Manufacturing Optimization’ in the United Kingdom. This initiative aims to analyze videogame technologies and find new practical applications for them that can be adapted to the industrial aerospace sector.

The project also includes developing technological demonstration units and prototypes that can validate the new technology. The final product will be sold worldwide by Aertec Solutions.

This initiative reinforces Aertec Solution’s presence in the United Kingdom, where it opened an office in Bristol in early 2013 and transferred part of its management team.

The technology used in videogames, which creates virtual reality environments, tells users about the condition and situation of objects and people, as well as carrying out specific tracking functions.

The ultimate goal is to apply these systems to an industrial environment and, for example, understand how people perform in a manufacturing plant. The systems seek to gather all available data in order to optimize the work that is carried out and improve both performance and management.
