This contract helps to consolidate CAF’s position as one of the leading rolling stock suppliers in the Mexican market.

The Spanish group CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) has been awarded a contract to supply 26 trains that will be used on the STC Metrorrey’s number 3 line. This light rail system is located in the Mexican city of Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo León.

The Spanish company will be responsible for the specialized infrastructure and equipment on the number 3 line, including rolling stock and related services. CAF will deliver 26 articulated trains and provide maintenance services for two years. In addition, it will offer training and a simulator system for vehicle operators and traffic monitoring.

The concession will cover 20 years starting from the date of the contract signing, during which the company will provide technical assistance services. The contract also includes supervisory services and maintenance audits during this period.

Delivery of the first 22 trains will take place within 17 months, with the first train delivered in 12 months to a location to be determined by the Metrorrey. In addition to being one of Mexico’s largest rolling stock suppliers, CAF is also one of the largest in the Americas.
