S2 Grupo, a Spanish firm specializing in cybersecurity, will receive support from the EU to develop Captor, its first system to fight against cyber threats.

A total of 2,666 companies from around Europe applied to participate in this innovative project. From these, just 155 were chosen and only six of them were cybersecurity firms. One of those included by the EU is S2 Grupo, a Spanish company that is developing the Captor system to fight against threats on the Internet.

Initially S2 Grupo will receive €50,000 of funding which could increase up to €2,000,000. The purpose of this grant is to help the company develop and apply its system against persistent cyber threats.

The threats that must be faced are the most sophisticated that an organization might receive, coming from cyber criminals, cyber terrorists or hostile governments.

The Spanish firm has been working for over 10 years in the field of cyber security. It currently is leading the European consortium ‘Muses’, which is working toward development of a corporate multi-device security system.

In recent years, cybersecurity has become a higher priority for companies. Security experts state that 2014 is the year of consolidation for cybersecurity as a matter of importance for corporations.
