This system represents a “revolution” for the ear and will be used in numerous sectors such as telephony, videogames, television, movies, music and hearing aids, according to a press release made by the company. This system, when used for leisure, gives the listener a unique experience, making them feel as if they were at the event taking place and perceiving all the fields of depth in the sound: the experience of “being there”. With this technology, that has required 16 years of research, sound reveals an innovative dimension that was always there, but which existing technology was not able to translate to the listener.
“The perception of the listener will be what they talk about in 3D”, explained the director of NeoDuction and inventor of Relisten, Manuel Benedito. “With this system we have managed to model communication into a succession of transduction processes, that achieve a resolution which is dynamic and identical to the sound of origin, without losing quality or nuances, improving the intelligibility”, he added.
Recently, NeoDuction signed an agreement with Motorola, the international maker of mobile phones, to adapt its Relisten technology for the new Android phone. Relisten can produce true CD quality music with only 64 kilobytes, more than 4 dB of intelligibility, full control over transitory response and true control over resolution detail. In particular, the system will represent a major improvement for transmission of the female voice, which currently loses more intelligibility over mobile phones than the male voice.
