The technology for producing synthetic nanoparticles developed by Luderra and TECNAN will soon be available in Japan thanks to an agreement signed between Lurederra and the Japanese company A.R. Brown Co Ltd.

The technology for producing synthetic nanoparticles developed by the Lurederra technology center, and its nanotechnology products produced and sold by its spin-off company “Tecnología Navarra de Nanoproductos S.L.” (TECNAN) will soon be available in Japan thanks to an agreement signed between Lurederra and the Japanese company A.R. Brown Co Ltd. The Japanese firm, which was founded in 1889, has a long tradition and has achieved many milestones, including importing the first ever television into Japan in 1953 for the then emperor Hiro Hito.

A delegation from this Japanese chemical products distributor travelled to TECNAN’s facilities in Los Arcos (Navarre, northern Spain) in the last week of September to gain first-hand knowledge of the products offered by the Spanish company and to finalize the terms of the agreement arranged by both companies in July.

Following the visit, TECNAN intends to supply A.R. Brown with various products, mainly simple and compound nano-oxides and nanoparticle solutions, for the Japanese company to supply these to its clients in the Asian market, including to companies as renowned as the consumer electronics manufacturer, Canon.

TECNAN currently has a nanoparticle production capacity of 1 kg/hour, although it is capable of supplying greater quantities if the market requires it, which would potentially be covered by starting up parallel production lines to fulfill these orders as and when they occur.

Despite the enormous interest in the possibilities of nanotechnology, this is still an embryonic market and the orders received by TECNAN are still for small quantities. This agreement with the Japanese company “could mark a turning point for TECNAN’s sales”, according to its chairman Claudio Fernández, “since it opens up attractive markets such as Japan, China, Korea and the rest of South East Asia through A.R. Brown’s subsidiary in Singapore”.

The products currently offered by TECNAN include simple and doped nano-oxides, advanced solutions based on these nano-oxides (which optimize the performance of these particles at a nanometric level), as well as finished products that are capable of providing water repelling effects or preventing drops or crusting, and which have an extremely long life cycle in materials such as concrete, cement, glass, fabric or wood.
