Isofotón, the maker of photovoltaic panels, has formed an alliance with the power company CGNPC in order to develop projects using high concentration technology.
Isofotón has begun operating in China, where it will develop its new technology for photovoltaic solar panels. In fact, it has reached an agreement with the Chinese firm CGNPC Solar Energy Development that will enable the company to set in motion various projects for high concentration photovoltaic solar energy.
The agreement is for three years and will kick off with the installation of a pilot plant in Sangri (China) by April of this year. Its high concentration technology functions where there is direct sunlight, such as in the case of Sangri.
The facility will be built along with a solar photovoltaic plant owned by the Chinese company CGN SEDC. It will have an installed capacity of one megawatt (MW). Ángel Luis Serrano, co-President of the Spanish company, explains that this agreement “gives a renewed impulse to the bet on high concentration technology for photovoltaic solar panels”. Further, with this project the company fulfills its dream of entering the Chinese market, which has always been one of the declared objectives of Isofotón, and where it has already divulged that it is maintaining conversations with two provinces toward building a plant.
CGNPC is one of the five largest power companies in China. “This pilot plant will allow us to move from the research stage to production and sales”, adds Serrano. Isofotón is owned by the companies Affirma Energy and Top Tec; the former will deal with the development, engineering and planning for the project while CGNPC Solar will be responsible for the construction of the facility. Isoftón will be the technology provider. Maintenance will be carried out by CGNPC Solar, under the supervision of Affirma.
