Health Lean Logistics (HLL) has won a contract to provide healthcare centers with medicines. The Catalan firm HLL, specializing in hospital logistics, will manage the supply of medicines to all hospitals and polyclinics within Panama’s Caja del Seguro Social system during the next three years.
This entity, controlled by the Government of Panama, had put the contract–worth €3.17 million–up for competitive bidding. Under this contract, the company–led by Albert Tarrats–will be responsible for the management of 74 healthcare centers, including 15 hospitals and various polyclinics and local clinics distributed over eight Panamanian provinces.
The company explains that it will use a latest generation technology in all of the centers, eliminating inefficiencies by adapting healthcare stocks to actual consumption.
HLL will also design the logistics processes for hospitals over their entire supply chain. In this manner, the Catalan firm intends to technologically modernize Panama’s healthcare centers, with the aim of reducing costs and improving their competitiveness.
HLL is based in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Vallès Occidental, Cataluña), where it supplies ten hospital in the region and, according to the group, has reduced stocks by 30%. Health Lean Logistics was founded in 2004 and has 50 employees.
The firm has offices in Portugal, Brazil, Chile, Panama and the United States.
