Its software will enable seeing the country’s electricity consumption in real time
Statnett, the operator of Norway’s national grid, has chosen software from the Spanish company AleaSoft in order to forecast the country’s electricity consumption. The software will be installed in the control center, from which the consumption of this energy is monitored in real time.
Electricity cannot be stored and is produced at the same time that it is consumed. As a result, electricity operators have difficulty in maintaining an equilibrium between consumption and electricity generation. “To have available good forecasts for consumption is key in order to obtain this equilibrium and contribute to achieving a high reliability of the electrical system”, says the Spanish company.
AleaSoft has had to compete with other European companies in order to win this new contract. With it, the firm makes a big step forward in its international strategy and for the first time enters the northern European market.
At the same time, AleaSoft has reinforced its position as a provider of forecasting systems for electrical transmission system operators (TSO), such as REE (Spain), Terna (Italy) and FEDA (Andorra), which are already clients of AleaSoft in this segment.
