It’s already possible to record video with any mobile phone camera, as long as it’s high definition. The Spanish company Vaxtor has developed an application, called VaxRecon3D, which allows recording video on a mobile in 3D.

To use this new system, the taping should range between 30 and 60 seconds and with a sweep of 180 degrees. “When the video is ready, it’s loaded into a Vaxtor reconstruction server, where the 3D model is generated in about ten minutes. The result of the three dimensional point cloud is automatic”, explains the creator of the invention and general manager of the company, Juan Vercher.

This technology enables reconstructing a damaged car in three dimensions for the insurance adjuster’s report, facades for restoration, or the generation of 3D models for people, among other applications that have yet to be defined.

The company, specialized in consulting and development of products in the field of artificial vision and image recognition, has offices in Madrid and Maryland (United States). Its staff is mainly comprised of engineers, computer specialists and mathematicians. The high technology being developed has caught the attention of companies such as Boeing and Telefónica.

The VaxRecon3D application, which can reproduce objects and people in three dimensions from images taken on a digital camera, has been developed precisely for Telefónica.
