The platform will be launched in Spain at the end of this year, and will represent a step forward in the developer programs that Telefónica already has in countries such as the United Kingdom, Mexico and Brazil. The new tool could be used by developers in order to sell their web and mobile phone applications in 25 countries, with the potential to access the company’s 280 million clients.
The goal of the platform is to gather together the creative talent that exists in the developer community, and give them the tools, ideas and infrastructure necessary in order to help them identify and satisfy the needs of the market. In this manner, this technology represents an opportunity for innovators to convert their ideas into solutions.
With BlueVia, Telefónica becomes the first telecoms company in the world offering developers between 10% and 50% of the trading revenue generated; further, they will keep 70% of all the income from the sale of applications and subscriptions. Through this platform, developers will be able to share their ideas in various ways, and they will also be given the tools in order to do this. BlueVia will connect them directly with clients, thus opening up new business opportunities for them.
The application, created at the Telefónica I+D (R&D) center located in the Boecillo Technology Park (Valladolid), will operate in all the countries where the company is present.
