The Spanish company continues to develop advanced military technology with its latest command and decision system (CDS) for the Spanish Navy’s F-105 frigate, and its portable observation equipment that can spot objects more than 20 kilometers away.
Navantia Sistemas, a worldwide leader in naval military construction, is expanding into building systems for armies and air forces. Its latest milestone is supplying portable observation devices for field artillery forces. This equipment will complement portable battlefield exploration and object detection systems that are already sold by Navantia for advance observation teams. It is capable of object positioning at distances of over 20 kilometers.
The portable equipment is a subsystem of Navantia’s SERT (Land Exploration and Reconnaissance System) which detects, identifies and positions objects through exploration, surveillance and reconnaissance of terrain, during both day and night operations and in reduced visibility.
Through integration with the TALOS command and control system it can effectively carry out support observation and management missions for mortar, artillery and aircraft fire, helping units that require a lightweight and compact system which can be easily transported.
The Spanish firm’s other technological milestone is the CDS program for the Navy’s F-105 frigate, which began in December, 2007. It represents a significant technological leap forward with respect to the CDS programs used by the F-100 first series.
This system includes anti-submarine, anti-surface and electronic warfare capabilities, and also incorporates anti-aircraft warfare functionality.
