Nickelodeon, the giant US satellite TV network, is expanding its gaming division with a new line of videogames. To this end it has reached an agreement with the Spanish company Ludei, which will provide the necessary technology in order to create multiplatform games.
Ludei’s technology platform is called CocoonJS. It has already been used by more than 10,000 developers—including some of the world’s leading gaming brands—to help launch over 700 applications and videogames for all types of mobile device operating systems.
The success of Ludei’s platform is based on the use of HTML5, which is the only programming language capable of standardizing applications for all of the different mobile phone platforms. Through the use of CocoonJS all of the different apps and games developed in HTML5 can be sold for any existing mobile platform, without the need to make a different version for each one.
The fact that Nickelodeon has chosen HTML5 for its gaming strategy is another confirmation that this Spanish technology is ready to take flight in 2014.
