The Spanish company has been chosen by Brazilian group LLX to manufacturer, supply and commission the iron ore handling and storage systems for the new port terminal at Itaguaí, Brazil.
The Southeast Superport is a new project begun by Brazilian group LLX. This modern port facility is on Sepetiba Bay by the city of Itaguaí, about 80 kilometers from Rio de Janeiro. The port will mainly serve as a point of debarkation for exporting iron ore from the mines operated by MMX—of the EBX group—in the state of Minas Gerais, adjacent to Rio de Janeiro.
Spanish group Taim Weser will supply, through its Brazilian affiliate Taim Cade do Brazil, equipment for bulk handling, storage and collection of iron ore at the port. This will include conveyor belts and four bucket wheel stackers and reclaimers, which will be installed in the two new iron ore storage areas.
The conveyor system is a complete circuit from the reception of the iron ore to its eventual loading aboard ship. The entire belt system is about 13,000 meters long and can handle 12,000 tons/hour.
The four stackers and reclaimers serve to stockpile and later collect the iron ore. They can stack up to 10,000 tons/hour and reclaim up to 12,000 tons/hour for shipment.
