The group is composed of 20 companies, including Acciona, ACS Cobra, FRV Fotowatio and Elecnor. It is helping to make the Spanish renewables industry a leader in countries such as South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

The Consortium to Promote the Spanish Renewable Energy Industry is expanding its presence across all of Africa, after initially entering the southern portion of the Continent in 2011. With offices in Madrid and Johannesburg, the Spanish group now intends to expand across all of Africa, after having already reached 1,200 megawatts (MW) during its initial phase of activity.

The decision to expand its presence was adopted during the Consortium’s most recent general assembly meeting. It is based on the growth opportunities in the African market as well as the experience that Spanish companies in the sector can offer.

Currently the Consortium includes 20 companies, including Acciona, ACS Cobra, FRV Fotowatio and Elecnor. The group has helped make the Spanish renewables industry a key player in countries such as South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

This large group of companies has decided to extend its reach across all of Africa, given the growth plans of its members as well as the support of the Spanish Government and the interest of African authorities.
