Grupo Soil was chosen by the joint venture group that includes SENER, CROWIE, TSK and ACCIONA to build a parabolic trough solar thermal plant in the Northern Cape region of South Africa.
The solar thermal plant will have 50 MW of installed capacity. Grupo Soil’s Water Division will provide technology that includes pre-filtering, ultra-filtration with recovery, demineralisation composed of a two-step reverse osmosis system, electro-deionisation, purification into drinking water and all types of wastewater treatments.
The Group was selected given the success of its water treatment systems that have already been installed in other Spanish solar thermal plants.
This contract win is especially important for Grupo Soil because more solar thermal projects are expected to be put in place in South Africa in the future. Further, the country not only enjoys a high level of sunlight but also offers growth potential in other areas where Grupo Soil operates, such as the food industry, mining, consulting & engineering and environmental services.
Grupo Soil is present in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico.
