The inauguation will take place Monday, June 28th, and will be presided over by the President of the Government of Valencia, Francisco Camps, as well as by the rectors of the UPV and the UV, Juliá and Morcillo, and the Director of ESA-ESTEC, Mr. Courtois

The European Laboratory, located in the Polytechnic City of Innovation, will study the phenomenon of radio frequency interuption with satellites and spaceships, with high-power microwave signals. Further, it will analyze possible breakdowns and problems with microwave circuits of satellites and spacecraft, and test microwave components for space applications in order to guarantee that they function correctly.

Radio frequency systems are essential for communication with satellites, receiving data sent from space, and for global navegation and telecommunications systems. Radio frequency, together with radar and remote sensing, are key in the study of space and our own planet.

The new facility will be incorporated into the network of the European Space Agency’s specialized European laboratories, which include Spain’s Spasolab, Millilab in Finland, the European Space Tribology Laboratory in the UK, and the Microelectronics Technology Support Laboratory in Ireland. The Polytechnic City of Innovation, which is widely-renowned both nationally and internationally in the field of technology, is the home of research institutes, corporations and other institutions intensively seeking new discoveries and innovation.
