The purpose of the CENIT program is to finance large-scale, wide-reaching, strategic industrial research projects in technologies of the future. Projects are meant to have the potential for international use, and overall represent a qualitative leap in R&D collaboration between companies and research entities.
With this project, Abengoa Bioenergy reaffirms the excellent technical and scientific standing of its strategic lines of research, and maintains financial backing for their development. Abengoa Bioenergy New Technologies has participated in the Cenit program during each of the past three years, and this is the second time it has been a project leader. All the projects have focused on the company’s main areas of expertise.
The aim of the BioSos project is to cover the complete biomass value chain, from generation of the resource to final products for the market. As such the company has invested in production of biomass, the primary conversion of biomass into intermediate products, and the conversion of the latter into final market products. Furthermore, special importance is being given to studies and tools that assure the sustainability of the solutions being developed.
