Actividades de Construcción y Servicios (ACS) will undertake the construction of the 72nd Street subway station for Manhattan’s new 2nd Avenue line. The Spanish group will also participate in New York’s two other most important transportation projects: the extension of line 7 and East Side Access, connecting the Long Island Rail Road with Grand Central Terminal.

The ACS group continues to grow in the United States, as the Schiavone unit of its Dragados division has been awarded a new and important contract. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York has awarded the company a contract to build a station on 72nd Street in Manhattan, worth $447 million. Since 2006 ACS has signed important contracts with the MTA and this new project consolidates its presence there, along with two other significant transportation plans that are being carried out in New York:

- The extension of line 7, a project worth $2,100 million, which will reach 34th Street and support the growth of an expanding community on the West Side.

- East Side Access, in which Dragados is participating with two contracts worth $430 million and $730 million. This project will create a fast, direct connection between Long Island and the East Side of Midtown Manhattan, improving the quality of service for Long Island Rail Road’s clients. It will also reduce congestion for trains and traffic, promoting economic development and improving the quality of the life in the metropolitan region of New York.

The new contract for the New York subway includes maintenance and traffic control, monitoring existing buildings and structures, and the protection and relocation of the services affected by the works. The project is expected to last 37 months.
