The Spanish company Panda Security has received a Technology Innovation Award from the prestigious newspaper The Wall Street Journal, for its Panda Cloud Antivirus product.

“We are proud to receive this award from The Wall Street Journal” stated Juan Santana, CEO of Panda Security. “Not only for being chosen among so many qualified candidates from around the world, but also because this international recognition confirms our strategy. By moving the heavy lifting for malware protection to ‘the cloud’, we can offer high levels of protection without affecting the performance of our users’ systems, whether they be household users or for corporate solutions”.

The Wall Street Journal considered 597 nominations from companies, organizations and individuals representing 30 countries this year. After evaluating each entry, the editors sent 275 of them to a panel of judges composed of researchers, venture capital firms and other interested organizations. The judges ultimately decided that 49 candidates deserved to win the various prizes, including Panda Cloud Antivirus.

The judges evaluated each entry based on various criteria, including: If the product represents a break from conventionally accepted wisdom in its field; if the improvements introduced are substantive, and if they would have an impact on the technological future of the sector.

The awards were presented at two ceremonies: the first was held in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 14th, and the second took place on November 3rd in Redwood City, California, coinciding with the Dow Jones VentureWire FASTech conference.

And precisely in California’s Silicon Valley, the company has just opened its Cloud Business Unit located in Menlo Park. This unit will promote Panda’s cloud protection services to consumers, small businesses and business partners.
