The IT security solutions company announced the purchase of its Canadian distributor and opens franchises in Asia, Latin America and Europe.

Panda Security is now the owner of its Canadian franchise. This will allow the Spanish firm to operate and sell its products there directly. Since 2007, when new financial partners led by Investindustrial entered the company’s capital, Panda Security hasn’t stopped reinforcing its network. It has now bought eight of the franchises it operated in strategic locations, and as a result today is directly present in 14 countries.

In addition to buying the franchise in Canada, the company has opened new offices in nine countries: Indonesia and Singapore in Asia; Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama in Latin America, and the Balkan region, Malta and Romania in Europe. In 2010, it has also acquired another franchise it had in Brazil. With these openings, the company currently operates directly, either through its own offices or franchises, in 61 key security locations.

Panda Security bases its activity on ‘Cloud Computing’ technology, and on the Collective Intelligence system. This security model consists of automatically analyzing and classifying thousands of malware samples every day. In the process, it delivers fast opinions about the files–if they are good or bad–and in instances where they are contaminated generates a vaccine. This affords its clients (companies and individuals) better protection while consuming fewer resources.

A few days ago, Panda Security’s CEO, Juan Santana, was named one of the one hundred most innovative executives in the sector by the Everything Channel’s magazine CRN. Santana was chosen specifically for his accurate vision in the field of security, and for his work with the distribution channel.

Panda Security has 56 offices spread around the world, and headquarters in the United States (California) and Europe (Spain). The company’s products have been translated into more than 23 languages, and serve millions of users in 195 countries.
