VSN exports a web tool to local television stations around the world, which enables sending files in real time and thus obviating the need for sending by post or satellite transmission.

Video Stream Networks (VSN) has developed a solution that makes it possible to send television programming content from any computer, using a conventional Internet connection, ADSL, wifi or 3G. The tool, called vsnIPTransfer, is similar to YouTube but with very high broadcast quality. The service consists of a software package that is installed in a matter of minutes; with it, it’s possible to immediately send or publish content from a server available on the Internet, substituting sending tapes by messenger or the use of video by satellite. “It is faster than any other computerized system for file transfer and reduces the cost of sending”, maintains the company, which is headquartered in Barcelona.

The new software is aimed at the audiovisual sector, and specifically at production companies, television channels, news agencies and content distributors. However, VSN recognizes that its main clients are local television stations around the world, which often share video content in order to maximize the return on their resources and open new markets for their productions. With the introduction of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), “the small and medium-sized channels have faced high costs due to the changeover in transmission technology. With the new tool they can achieve savings when it comes to exchanging files”, the company points out.

VsnIPTransfer enables the sale of content or programs over the Internet that otherwise would not be seen. A television station in India, for example, can buy a special program about the Fiesta de la Patum in the Catalan town of Berga (Barcelona, Spain), and show it to more than 200 million people in order for them to better know the local culture.
