Quercus had developed a product to detect vehicles that go through red lights, based on virtual loop technology.
The company Quercus Technologies has surprised the markets for automobiles and roadway security with its star product: BirdWatch RL. This uses virtual loop technology working with artificial vision, and is able to detect vehicles that go through red lights.
The product substitutes older metal detectors that are installed on roads in order to monitor traffic. According to the company, “with this system, it’s not necessary to install anything in the pavement, nor is it necessary to have any physical connection to the traffic light in order to know what color code is showing (if it’s red, green or yellow)”.
BirdWatch RL does not require any physical sensor in order to be aware of the presence of a vehicle, given that it recognizes cars virtually. In spite of its small size (it fits in your hand), everything necessary to carry out its surveillance function is included in its housing: a camera, lighting, processor and communications.
All of these characteristics have brought this vehicle detection product very high acceptance not only in Spain, but also in other European countries (France, Greece, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Portugal, Croatia, United Kingdom, Russia and Andorra). “We already have equipment being tested by the police in Poland, and confirmed projects for Russian companies”, confirms the Spanish firm. In Latin America, for example, the product generated interest on the part of a large engineering company in Sao Paulo after being presented at Brazil’s Transoquip trade fair. Work is on-going to close a large distribution contract there.
