The Spanish group Gowex has reached an accord with the public railway engineering company from this Asian country in order to develop wireless networks.

The Spanish technology group Gowex is making strides outside of Spain. In fact, it has recently reached an agreement with China Railway Signal & Communication Shanghai Engineering (CRSCS), the engineering affiliate for signaling and communications of Shanghai’s public railways. The alliance between the two companies includes three basic objectives: participate in the market for wireless communications for Chinese transportation; provide Wi-Fi wireless services in different cities there; and work together on similar projects in emerging markets.

Toward the first objective, Gowex will use its wireless communications technology and bid–together with its Chinese partner–on projects to equip Chinese railways and other forms of transportation such as subways, streetcars and motorways with Wi-Fi communications. At the moment, the Spanish company is working on the wireless connection of the railway line between Beijing and Shanghai.

On the second line of action, CRSCS will take advantage of Gowex’ technology for wireless networks in order to carry out applications in the market for building metropolitan Wi-Fi networks. In this sector the Spanish company has experience. Recently, it reached an agreement with the City of Buenos Aires to install Wi-Fi connectivity in numerous areas of the Argentine capital.

The third strategic point of the agreement enables both companies to begin work on projects in countries in Latin America, Asia and Africa. To this end CRSCS will provide advantageous terms of financing.
