The conclusions of the work will have an impact on the first versions of automobiles to reach the market.

The Aragón Technology Center (ITA), closely linked to the Department of Science, Technology and Universities of the Government of Aragón, will design an electric car and participate as a partner in the southwestern European project ‘Green-Car Eco-Design’.

The initiative, which begins this month, aims to include environmental considerations in the design stage of electric vehicles, in order to make them more efficient and respectful of the environment. The ITA begins with a budget of €160,000. The project represents a challenge given that this product is currently under development, and the conclusions of the study could have repercussions on the first models of this more ecological automobile.

It’s also expected that representatives from the various sectors involved will participate in the project: automotive, energy, mobility, ICT, public works and electrical installation. Further, entities from Catalonia, the Basque Country and Andalusia are participating. This initiative is included in the interreg program IVB-SUDOE, approved a few weeks ago in Brussels.

This project, which will be carried out during two years, has received almost €1 million from the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund). The Territorial Cooperation Program for Southwestern Europe (SUDOE) supports regional development through co-financing international projects.
