Egatel expands the digital TV network in Morocco

The firm has been chosen from among another fifteen candidates, thanks to its proven experience in Spain during the digital television transition process.

Morocco and the National Corporation for Television Broadcasting (SNRT) intend to make improvements in the country’s current TV system and extend the coverage of digital terrestrial television. The

Spanish broadcasting technology company Egatel will be in charge of extending this network structure, after winning a public contract.

The Spanish firm’s project consists of supplying and installing ten 500W DVB-T/H digital transmitters. They will be equipped with the ‘Dual Drive’ redundancy system and monitored by the CCU9000 Control Unit. Modulators will incorporate real time digital correction and guaranty a high quality broadcast signal. The system is able to broadcast digital TV in the UHF frequency.

Egatel was chosen by Morocco from among another fifteen candidates “for its proven experience in Spain during the digital television transition process”, according to the company.

The Spanish company is based in the Galicia Technology Park, in Ourense. It researches, develops, manufactures products and broadcasting systems aimed at transporting and disseminating television signals, both in analogue and digital formats.

It was founded in 1992 in the domestic sector for satellite reception, and took its first steps in analogue micro-repeaters. In 1999, it began working in the world of digital TV.
