Telefónica is the most highly admired company in the world due to its innovation

The Spanish company climbs three positions and surpasses Verizon, AT&T and América Móvil, according to Fortune magazine.

Telefónica has achieved a rating of 7.01 points in the classification established by Fortune magazine from the United States. As such the company ranks first among the most admired telecommunications companies in the world, surpassing Verizon, which is ranked second with 6.74 points.

Telefónica is number one in innovation, the use of corporate assets, social responsibility, long-term investment and global competitiveness. Further, it is among the top three companies in people management, quality of management, financial soundness and the quality of products/services.

This year, the telecommunications company rose three positions from 2010, when it was ranked in fourth place behind Verizon, AT&T and América Móvil.

Ferrovial: Fourth in its sector

Another Spanish firm, Ferrovial, holds fourth place in the engineering and construction sector, with a rating of 6.47. The company came in second in the development of strategies for social responsibility, behind Statoil from Norway. Other Spanish companies present in the rankings included Repsol, with 6.28 points, FCC with 5.75, Gas Natural Fenosa with 5.41 and Mapfre with 4.75.

350 companies from 57 sectors are included in the list ‘The World’s Most Admired Companies’.
