This is an open source alternative to Windows Small Business Server, and it’s estimated that there are around 50,000 active installations of Zentyal servers worldwide.
When the Spanish company Zentyal began to develop its Zentyal server, it never imaged that seven years later its software would have an active community of 4,000 members, and around 1,000 downloads per day.
Zentyal, the Linux server for SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), aims to provide an enterprise-level IT network that is affordable and easy to use. Thanks to its high level of integrated capabilities and automated tasking, SMEs can achieve savings of up to 50% on total installation and network management costs.
The company behind the development of the Zentyal server was founded in 2008. Its business model is based on the sale of subscriptions, which provide updates for software and security, alerts, performance reports and managed services. The company is channel-focused, reaching final clients located around the world through its continually expanding network of authorized global partners. In little more than two years it has been able to convert the Zentyal server into the market leader for SME Linux servers.
