Capcom aspires to become the Spanish Skype

The Spanish company is developing an application called Talky, similar to Skype, which enables making calls and chatting over the internet, and can be used from a mobile telephone.

Capcom has taken advantage of its communications technology platform in order to now launch a service that directly competes with Skype. The mobile application called Talky serves to make calls and chat over the internet, and can be downloaded from the Android Market store. Further, it is compatible with iPhone, Symbian and Windows terminals (with which the service allows making video calls).

In order to call using Talky, it’s necessary to have a broadband internet connection and create an account on TalkyOnline.com or through its mobile application. The registration process is free, but to establish communications there has to be at least two Euros deposited in the account. This is the same procedure used by other applications, such as Skype.

Calls between Talky users are free; calls to conventional telephones are at a reduced price. When creating the account, the client associates him or herself freely with a number, that can be Spanish or international, or both. As such, people communicating with these numbers will pay a local or international rate, as a function of where a person is located.

Talky allows calling Spanish mobile phones for only €.10 per minute, with no connection charge and per second billing.

It’s also possible to register home numbers in Talky. That way, dialing the Talky code before the number, calls can be made at lower cost. Capcom, specialized in internet communications, was founded in 1998 as a prepaid phone card and call shop services provider.
