The Spanish company’s new products are in response to the demand coming from sectors such as food, which need to produce boxes quickly. The system is able to automate the lines of production with a multiformat program and can work with 35 boxes per minute
Tavil was founded in 1925, starting out as a manufacturer of machines and components mainly for the meat sector. In the 1980s the company decided to shift its business toward automated packaging. Today it is developing a pioneering technology in the sector, automating production lines with multiformat systems.
The first phase that is usually automated in packaging production is making the boxes and closing them. Tavil’s multiformat technology enables its clients, especially those in the food industry, to use the same machine to make up to 99 different types of boxes. Changing the format in order to switch from one box to another only takes three seconds.
It works by introducing the measurements of the desired box, to be made out of a sheet of cardboard, into the machine’s touch screen. The machine automatically adjusts the mold and the pattern, giving shape to the box.
Given that Tavil’s technology makes format changes very fast, this creates the option of adding up to four storage spaces for cardboard sheets to the machine. In this manner it’s possible to work simultaneously with up to four different types of boxes. The multiformat seamer adjusts automatically as a function of the size of the boxes that are delivered to it.
Overall, boxes can be made faster (it’s possible to work with up to 35 per minute) and according to all the box format changes that are frequently required by supermarket chains.
