Wearable technology, which refers to smart technology that can be worn such as glasses, watches and clothes, is starting to take off. The Spanish company Zerintia is working on these types of solutions for firms such as Google and Thalmic Labs.
Zerintia is making a big bet on wearable technology, given the buzz that’s been created by the famous Google Glass and forthcoming smart watches (Apple is now preparing its version).
The Spanish technology firm is already designing different applications to make these devices more useful in the daily life of millions of people. To this end it is working on several projects. It recently launched ‘Madrid Tour for Google Glass’, which gives users a guided tour of Spain’s capital. And it’s also preparing applications for sports, events and games.
However, the company’s most ambitious project is creating the rescue and emergency response platform of the future, which will combine various wearable technologies. In this effort it is being advised by the Cruz Roja (Spain’s Red Cross, a humanitarian volunteer organization operating in the public interest and in conjunction with the Spanish State). Once completed, this platform will be available free of charge to any group around the world wishing to take advantage of it and adapt it to their needs.
Zerintia is advised and financed by the Spanish incubator Grupo Kebala. Another Spanish company that is also developing applications and services for smart devices such as Google Glass is Droiders.
