Spanish hospital and medical equipment is recognized in Persian Gulf countries and surrounding markets.

Spanish healthcare technology companies are international leaders because of the quality of their products. Thanks to heavy investment in R&D, these firms produce devices that are very advanced technologically. In some sectors they compete head-to-head with large multinationals thanks to their level of technological sophistication.

These factors have led to a progressive increase in exports to the Middle East and surrounding markets. Specifically, markets exhibiting the highest year-on-year growth rates for Spanish products for the period January to October, 2013 are: Oman, with an increase of 122% to €643,500; Pakistan, +60% to €5.2 million; Kuwait, growing 32% to €1.7 million and Jordan, rising 20% to €1.5 million.

The United Arab Emirates, and in particular Dubai, have become hubs for buyers of medical and hospital equipment among Persian Gulf countries and other surrounding markets such as Pakistan, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and African countries such as Kenya and Tanzania.

Arab Health is the Middle East’s largest healthcare trade show and the second largest international event in the sector. This year 55 Spanish companies from the healthcare industry participated.
