Eleven Paths, the cybersecurity division of Telefónica Digital, has developed and patented an application called Latch, which works like a virtual lock to protect digital passwords.

Latch lets users activate and deactivate their digital services in order to protect them against possible attacks and theft. It works like a digital lock and lets customers manage which online services are active and available, and when.

For Spanish company Telefónica Digital it’s more important than ever to reinforce security, which requires people to create multiple digital identities in order to access their email and social networks, make purchases or use online banking.

Latch works like a smartphone application, and lets users decide when online services are turned on and off so that other people can’t access them.

The application is designed to send an alert whenever it detects that someone is trying to access one of the services that is disconnected. The tool is available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms. The Spanish operator is currently negotiating with various digital service providers who are interested in incorporating Latch into their systems.
