The Spanish construction company has been chosen as the preferred bidder to build sewage infrastructure in Scotland and manage it for seven years.
Ferrovial, through its UK services affiliate Amey and in a consortium with Black & Veatch, will design, build and manage sewage infrastructure for wastewater. The project will provide service to five million Scottish customers. Valued at £340 million (about €415 million), the contract covers a seven year period.
The consortium, led by Ferrovial’s affiliate, presented the best bid for the contract, which was offered by Scottish Water. The project will reinforce the working relationship that both Amey and Black & Veatch have with Scottish Water, given that the two companies have each been working with this Scottish utility for twenty years (though separately, until now).
Recently Ferrovial, also through its UK services affiliate Amey, was awarded a highway maintenance contract in England’s Staffordshire county. Further, as part of a consortium with Spain’s Abengoa, the company also won a railway electrification contract in southern England worth €230 million; this contract includes the electrification of 250 kilometers of railway over a five year period.
Just this year the Spanish company received a services contract from the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, to provide hotel services at Warwick and Stratford hospitals.
