“The Spanish wind sector has great opportunities in Australia,” ensures Stuart Fuller, Global Managing Partner at King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin (KWM), the largest law firm in the Asia-Pacific region. “Spain is a leader in infrastructure and energy”, according to Mr. Fuller.

Internationalization has been a successful growth strategy for many Spanish companies. While Europe and Latin America would seem to be the obvious areas in which to expand, there are other markets that are especially attractive for certain sectors. For example, “the Spanish wind sector has great opportunities in Australia”, states Stuart Fuller, Global Managing Partner at King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin (KWM), the largest law firm in the Asia-Pacific region.

Australia is promoting investment into renewable energies, which “will allow Spain to export its know-how in this field”. Stuart Fuller points out that Australian industry is especially strong in other areas where Spain also stands out, such as infrastructure. And companies in this sector have a bright future in Asia. King & Wood Malleson’s Managing Partner also points to China as a market that is “especially interesting for Spanish companies”, given that this country is providing opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

In March, 2012, King & Wood, the largest law firm in China, merged with Mallesons Stephen Jaques, which was one of the six largest firms in Australia. Just four months ago the newly merged entity joined forces with Britain’s SJ Berwin, which has an office in Madrid.
