The Spanish production company received one of two prizes awarded by the Disney Channel in a competition for animated TV series.
Edebé Audiovisual, a producer and distributor of animated programming based in Barcelona, Spain, has received a Disney Channel Award for its new television animated series project called ‘I, Elvis Riboldi’. Edebé competed against seven other finalists for this distinction at the Mifa animated film trade fair held in Annecy, France.
In total 80 entries were presented at the festival and the Spanish project was chosen because it combined creativity with market potential. ‘I, Elvis Riboldi’ is a comedy that tells of the adventures and misadventures of a 12 year-old scatterbrained, impulsive, energetic and slightly destructive boy named Elvis. Together with his friends Boris and Emma, as well as the often less than friendly Lagunilla, Elvis lives through adventures that are as funny as they are absurd.
Once completed, the animated series ‘I, Elvis Riboldi’ will include 52 11-minute episodes, produced in digital 2D.
Edebé began to work on the series at the end of last year, as the result of a development agreement with three other Spanish production companies: Wuji House, Insomne Estudi and Alla Kinda.
The next step is Cartoon Forum, an industry event that will be held in Toulouse, France in September. ‘I, Elvis Riboldi’ is again one of the series up for a prize. The company affirms that by then the initial development phase of the project will be completed, allowing the first agreements with television channels to be reached.
