The global ranking compiled by ‘Machina Research’ places Telefónica within the industry’s top tier thanks to its leadership in the M2M World Alliance (the world’s largest alliance of M2M operators), and its strong presence in Europe and Latin America.

Telefónica has been recognized once again by ‘Machina Research’ as one of the world’s four top tier leaders in the M2M market, along with AT&T, Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone.

The consulting firm’s ranking includes Telefónica among the world’s leaders in this sector thanks to its leadership in the ‘M2M World Alliance’ (the largest global alliance of M2M operators) and for the agreements reached with Tesla toward the launch of the M2M connected electric car. Also supporting the company’s inclusion in this exclusive list are the many contracts it has signed to offer communications services for companies around the globe.

The report emphasizes that Telefónica multiplies its sales structure by being associated with key players in the machine-to-machine value chain thanks to the M2M Global Partner Programme, as well as its innovation in R&D. The company has a strong footprint in European and Latin American markets.

The Smart M2M Solution platform deploys a series of advanced functions such as monitoring and managing traffic through the use of real time data. The program combines fraud detection, the ability to restrict communications and establishing maximum traffic limits.

The key project for the Spanish group is the ‘Smartcity’, where it applies its Smart M2M Solution tool in order to manage high data volumes and connections.
