With FacePhi users can now envision a world where accessing email and social networks, or using a cash machine, could be accomplished without a password or PIN code.
It would also be possible to start a car without a key because the vehicle will be able to recognize its owner. Or take money out of a cash machine without needing a PIN code or even a bankcard, because the machine would be capable of recognizing the customer’s face. All that’s required is a simple webcam.
Bank branches wouldn’t need to identify their customers because that could be accomplished as soon as they walked through the door if this technology was installed. But its most important use is security. Going through an airport without having to carry a passport could become reality if police are able to identify people just by looking at their faces.
All this is possible now thanks to the work of the Spanish company FacePhi, which has already signed an agreement with a Latin American banking group—including 15 entities—to implement its technology on the internet. This technology is already available in some embassies outside of Spain.
According to experts this could represent one of the greatest technological advances now in progress, and it’s possible thanks to technology and talent that is 100% Spanish. Interest in the company has also grown thanks to its recent initial public offering in Spain.
