This new Spanish app is called bCoach, and it replaces the traditional chalkboard with a tablet that can show plays in 2D or 3D. It represents a breakthrough in software for basketball.
The best kept secret of the Spanish National Women’s Basketball Team—which recently came in second at the World Championships—is from the company VSport13.The firm noticed that, in contrast to soccer, basketball coaches did not have at their disposal any application that provided everything a coach needed in order to instruct players. In response it created an app that included everything a coach could wish for: statistics, videos, diagrams of plays and training sessions.
BCoach was developed with the close participation of the Spanish Basketball Federation (Federación Española de Baloncesto). It substitutes a tablet for the traditional chalkboard that coaches have used. The app can show plays in 2D or 3D, which is a first in the world of basketball software.
After designing the app the company searched for investors in order to finance the product’s further development. This process was carried out over nine months, in order to launch the product before the FIBA World Championship for Women, which was held in Turkey.
This event represented an enormous opportunity to consolidate the product’s future, which depends principally on income from downloads. The app will benefit from product updates throughout the year and is expected to be a success in the market.
