Companies such as BQ, Geeksphone and Vexia are squaring off against technology giants in the market for smartphones.

A number of Spanish companies are determined to challenge Apple and Samsung, launching their own Spanish-made smartphones which are on a par with the technology and designs of the large tech firms. BQ is one of them. It first entered the e-reader and tablet market, followed by the launch of its first smartphone called the Aquaris. This phone comes in several models depending on screen size. All of the devices use Android Jelly Bean technology and retail at affordable prices ranging from €99.90 to €259.90. They come with a Dual Core Cortex processor.

Another Spanish firm that has entered the smartphone market is Geeksphone. This company has two models: the Keon and the Peak. The former is a simple and versatile device for people who want smartphone services without complications. The Peak is more powerful, for users who need the latest technology, and costs about €150. Geeksphone uses the Firefox OS operating system. The company has also announced that it is working on a new phone called the Revolution which will be launched in the near-future. This high-end device will have a high performance processor that is compatible with the Android operating system or Mozilla’s Open Web system.

Vexia has launched its Zippers Phone using Android 4 and the Intel Atom processor. This device has 8GB of storage memory, 1GB of RAM and a 4.3 inch screen. It retails for €229.

Wolder is another Spanish company that has joined the smartphone market. Its two models, Mismart Smile and Mismart Wink, both have a dual SIM card, a Dual Core processor and use the Android 4.2 operating system. Finally Primux also sells three different smartphones: the Delta, Omega and Alpha. This company uses Android technology for its devices and the Dual Core processor.
