These thirteen pioneering projects include bikes powered by solar energy, sun umbrellas that can recharge mobile phones, more efficient containers, and heating & cooling systems that use up to 70% less energy.

The 13 firms have made it through to the final phase for Spain of project Clean Launchpad, Europe’s biggest competition to find and promote the best ideas and startups related with climate change. This makes the event an ideal venue for the launch of innovative ideas and the sale of the most noteworthy technologies.

The 13 Spanish firms have presented various projects and aspire to become leading European companies in the field. These proposals include solar-powered bicycles with rechargeable batteries, heating & cooling systems that can cut energy consumption by up to 70%, terrace umbrellas with solar panels that can recharge cell phones, packaging that is more efficient and sustainable as well as cutting edge materials for wind turbines.

The Valencia Institute of Business Competitiveness (Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial or IVACE) and the Valencia Cluster of Energy Industries (Asociación Valenciana de Empresas del Sector de la Energía or AVAESEN) are organizing this contest. CleanLaunchpad is meant to be a springboard in order to gain access to the largest cleantech startup accelerator in the world, Climate-KIC Accelerator. Also collaborating in this project is the InnDEA foundation, IDEAS, Galicia’s Ministry of Culture and Education (Conselleria de Cultura y Educación), and the law firm Olleros Abogados.
